Maxwell describes the new song that he just released today as a modern love song. “Shame” has to do with romance in the social media age. Misunderstandings of Instagram comments, couples being on display in this ‘alternate world’, and barriers of real intimacy because people are so preoccupied with appearances and measuring what society thinks we should be. Whew! That’s a lot to take in!
Maxwell’s ‘Shame’ is presented as an antidote to it all. It’s about removing the mask of expectations and letting go of the shame of being real.“It’s a parallel universe, it’s not real” he sings.
“Shame” gets us ready for Maxwell’s forthcoming album, Night, which he says should make its way to us sometime in 2019.
Take a listen. Whatcha think?
