Tonight, the University of Minnesota will award Prince it’s highest honor: an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. The University says that prior to Prince’s death, the University of Minnesota and College of Liberal Arts had already been preparing to present him with the degree.
The degree is being awarded to recognize Prince’s “remarkable talent and enduring influence in music, as well as his extraordinary contributions off-stage in shaping the city of Minneapolis, fostering musical talent and his influence in the realms of gender identity, fashion and socio-political activism”.
While the event this evening is free and open to the public, it is full to capacity and has been for at least a week. Prince always brings a huge crowd out, didn’t you know?
Well deserved, Prince. Well deserved.
