“We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” – MLK
Although Martin Luther King Day is celebrated annually on the third Monday of January, his actual birthday is today, JANUARY 15TH. He would have turned 90 years old.
This year, MLK Day falls on Monday January 21st. But that won’t stop us from also celebrating and thinking about him today!
National Today has some nice suggestions on how you can celebrate his birthday:
- Participate in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Since MLK Day is part of United We Serve (the national call-to-service initiative), find a local project and volunteer. This can be anything from collecting food for homeless shelters, helping to clean up a local park or delivering meals to people that are house-bound.
- Revisit the “I Have A Dream” speech.
- Celebrate diversity!
We celebrate you Martin Luther King Jr.!
