Googled issued an apology recently for enabling some Android smart phone user’s settings without their consent or knowledge. On Friday, some users noticed and reported that a setting had been enabled. On Saturday, Google confessed that it was an experimental feature that was accidentally rolled out.

The battery-saving option on Google’s Pixel smartphones and a few Essential phones were turned on, even if the users had previously turned it off. Google explained,”This was an internal experiment to test battery saving features that was mistakenly rolled out to more users than intended… sorry for the confusion.” Google changed the settings back to the original settings on the affected phones. While this is a harmless mishap, it made people question what else is happening ‘behind the scenes’ without their knowledge. What kind of control does Google have with phones? Android or otherwise…

Some users were upset and some users were understanding. Your thoughts?
